Appearance:

Head: Nanatsu-O Izanagi has his own unique style as does most when it comes to appearance and attire. The Shinigami long ago chose to include a mask that would be worn on his face no doubt. The mask is a jet black one; it has an almost glossy black tint to it, making it even more unique. The mask fits closely to Jushiro’s face as if it were his own skin, an extra layer on top of the once flawless handsome face which is hidden behind the mask. The mask has eye holes with slight curves which make it appear rather menacing. Jushiro’s crimson orbs or eyes seem to be overshadowed by darkness. This gives the impression that the man has no eyes, and it is only darkness which resides there. The mask doesn't prevent Jushiro from hearing, seeing, speaking, breathing etc. It was designed by the 12th Division for this specific purpose, to function as if it wasn't there.

The only thing special about the mask is that it gives Izanagi his own unique style in terms of appearance. The mask is also equipped with a special substance that performs a unique function. The aforementioned function is to form different expression on the exterior of the mask. A white substance is used, which decorates the mask with black and white patterns. The mask then allows onlookers to see or judge Jushiro’s feelings. What does this mean? Jushiro can smile behind the mask and the white substance will manifest that smile. A frown, a look of confusion, emotions of affections will be like pictures drawn on the mask. The mask seems to replace Jushiro’s face even covering his ears.

Behind the mask is a once flawless handsome face, which causes others to be curious as to why he chose to wear a mask. It is also said that only Jushiro is aware of the way in which to remove this mask from his person. The eccentric Nanatsu Izanagi was once badly injured during combat, leaving an everlasting scar on his body. The Shinigami chose to leave these scars behind, actually embracing them. A thing which has made him both unusual and unique in terms of appearance. Izanagi now have what many would dub to be a more robotic appearance. In fact, half his face suffered and had to be reconstructed to reflect this. Half of the man's body also suffered the same fate, with his left arm and right leg, being robotic in appearance. Although, its not as obvious as of now, but with close inspection, many would be able to grasp it.

As stated the man once had a handsome face that could be easily as menacing or welcoming as the mask that he wears. Jushiro is of a tanned skin color, Latino like in terms of tone. He has long snow white spiky hair, which further generates interest in the mask that is worn. His hair extends long enough to reach his upper back where it comes to a stop.

Upper Body: Jushiro’s appearance also seems to be based on his past experiences and where he has been during his time as a Shinigami. The mask for instance was inspired by his affiliation with the 12th Division. Izanagi's upper body garments begin with a red scarf wrapped around his neck, stretching down towards his abdomens. The bottom layer of Izanagi's clothing sees him wrapped in black bandages, unlike the typical white ones. The bandages are wrapped around his entire upper body, except for his head of course. The bandages stretch all the way to his upper arm, where they stop. On top of these bandage, Izanagi wears a sleeveless Kimono. The Kimono is made to form a V cut starting just at his waistline and expands moving up towards his chest area. Jushiro sports a pair of black fingerless gloves on his hands. The gloves stretches pass his wrists and ends 5 inches below his elbows. The pair of gloves also seems to have buckles, three sets on each glove. That wraps around them, the buckles and the material that connects them to each other are red, much like the scarf being worn. The Kimono of course stretches down beyond his waist line. However wrapped around his waist line is his Obi sash, a white one with red flower patterns as designs. The Obi sash also keeps his Zanapakuto held into place, although at times it may be worn across his back. The Shinigami also wears a sleeveless Haori over his Kimono.

Lower Body: The bottom half of Izanagi's attire is his black Kimono threads. His Shihakusho is worn as normal, while somewhat ragged at the bottom. Nanatsu-O's sandals are also black with grey straps.

Personality:

Nanatsu-O Izanagi is a most unorthodox individual, often seen with a fox grin adorning his face. The man is as intelligent, perceptive and sometimes as manipulative as any other. There is also the brutish and cunning side to the Shinigami which shines through the most especially in battle situations.

There is also an uncertainty when it comes to his sincerity; his calculative and perceptive persona makes him a force to be reckoned with. Being a two face as they say Izanagi may at times finds he can be rather moody. And at other times demonstrating traits of someone with a warm heart. Izanagi can sometimes be seen as a sort of recluse, opting to do things in private rather than out in the open. If one were to ignore the fickle and despicable side of the Shinigami. They would come to find that he is quite intelligent and head strong. His intelligence revolves around his leadership and his ability to make what he deems to be the correct decision. He is the type that demands respect and obedience from his subordinates. Jushiro is the type of person that knows when to be serious and when to indulge in light comedic situations. His frivolous nature may see him become as carefree as any other who shares a similar trait.

A mad man, or rather a mad genius, with a keen intellect, who seems to have a great deal of appreciation for the arts and science. He also truly believes in the ideals of the Gotei and what it truly stands for. And would even go as far as die in order to protect. In fact some would argue that this mad scientist once died. And what you see standing before you is the reincarnation or rebirth of a great man. The Shinigami believes in upholding justice, but he is far from being a blind idealist. Nanatsu-O was put in charge of maintaining the balance, and in some ways he has become the chief consultant in said area. As such, the Shinigami isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty in order to maintain order. Even if this means sacrificing a few souls in order to protect hundreds more. He is not adverse to making the tough decisions.

Nanatsu-O is most insightful and hardly ever lets anything slips by unnoticed. He is a curious soul, and can be overindulgent at times. And at the same time, he can grow rather bored and uninterested in certain subjects not intriguing enough to hold his attention. The Shinigami can be quite fierce in battle situations. But the man seem to possess a certain finesse and elegance regarding the way he goes about his business. The Shinigami often like to educate, and seems to enjoy a meaningful conversation, even between foes. He is a man constantly seeking knowledge, for it is within his nature to do so. And his labors while being part of the Gotei demands it too.

With that said, there are other aspects to Izanagi's persona. Such as his undying love for women, so much so that's he's been dubbed a womanizer. The man also enjoys a good drink, but never enough to become intoxicated and incoherent. Nanatsu is an inventor and developer of the new and old alike. This Shinigami seems to be in constant flow, one perpetual motion that is almost unstoppable when it comes to his mind.

Once Upon A Time

History:

Nanatsu-O Izanagi was created as the seventh blade, placed in charge of maintaining the balance between the departed souls and the living all the same. Nanatsu-O was present during the creation of many a things. His generation of Shinigami was one of the first to have discovered how to tap into their latent abilities. He and his brethren alike also did the same, with Yuri Aoi being the forefront of everything. One could say Nanatsu-O was a progenitor of many things of creation. He was an inventor at heart, showing a great appreciation for the arts. Izanagi came to prominence during the great rebelling. And thus the war between the just and the unjust came about. Nanatsu-O while he remained true to the task given onto him, he was not without fault. This guardian of death too had his own agenda, and even when the war boiled up. Izanagi found he was caught up in the middle of it all, not one to want to take sides. He was a neutral, simply because of his own desires.

Nanatsu-O was present when a number of his fellow Shinigami had fallen. While honing his skills, Izanagi was also busy doing research into the composition of souls. The Shinigami also saw it as beneficial to his own work, that some of his comrades would forcefully create Hollows. He watched from the shadows, biding his time. And in doing so, Nanatsu had become negligent in his duties, and needed to be reminded of why he was created in the first place. Nanatsu too was one of the hunted, he was to die, but it would seem he would live to die another day. As war broke out, Shinigami against Shinigami and Hollows against Shinigami. Nanatsu-O of the seventh blade was forced to make an appearance. And in doing so, he was now fully involved in the war. Despite knowing of the dangers and risk to his own well being. The Shinigami took a stance, and stood true to his words. He went to war with the Lords of war, Shinigami like himself. And when it was all said and done, the unjust Shinigami was defeated, with their leader being imprisoned. And as for Nanatsu-O he did not escape so lightly.

The man had suffered for his trespasses against the souls he once took an oath to protect. Izanagi, or Jushiro as he's more commonly known, was near death. But his life force did not leave him, since he was granted redemption in the form of his own inventions and experiments. The Shinigami was able to rebuild his body in a sense, taking on a quasi human form, half man half machine so to speak. The seventh blade soon went into isolation, watching once again from the shadows. This time round the Soul Reapers was given a new charge, with some leaving to take their place in another realm. Izanagi wasn't lucky enough to be one of the King's guards. Instead, he was given the task of establishing the Gotei along side Yuri Aoi. And so the white haired fox made his appearance once more. But the man had seemingly changed to a certain degree. He was now well aware of what needed to be done. And knew all too well that the ones first created would need as much help as possible. In the end, they were so very few, but in time, the started recruiting more souls. And in time these souls would be turned into soldiers in order to serve.

Not in servitude, but for a just cause as it should have been from the very beginning. The Shinigami was soon given special tasks, designed to compliment their already existing abilities. Some Shinigami found themselves possessing certain traits that made them perfect for certain jobs. Nanatsu-O in this case was the perfect candidate to be head of the Research and Development institution. There was a plan for a certain number of divisions, but at this point in time. There wasn't enough Shinigami strong enough to fill certain ranks. That, and the Gotei still wasn't in a position to call themselves a military power. Time would pass on by, and Nanatsu-O would come to understand a lot more about what being a Shinigami was all about. They discovered the Shikai and Bankai form of their Zanapakuto. Noting that each Shinigami tend to have abilities unique to themselves. Demon Magic and the flash steps also became part of the Shinigami combat capabilities. Nanatsu-O on the other hand continued his work, developing new skills, and working more closely with his Zanapakuto in order to learn more about it. Izanagi was a genius in his own right, and so it did not take a long time for the man to truly understand what a Zanapakuto was all about. Although it was a weapon, he would never resort to treating it like a tool. Because a Zanapakuto also has a spirit/soul living inside.

And it is through this spirit that they're able to truly able to learn more about the Zanapakuto. Years went by, and Nanatsu-O had established a way to properly maintain and monitor the balance of souls. Meanwhile, the Shinigami was also carefully monitoring the situation with the Hollows of Hueco Mundo. That, and the influence they have on the world of the living. Since with more and more spiritual interference in the world of the living. More and more anomaly's came about. Such as spiritual aware humans, capable of seeing spirits. And in turn developing ways to combat them. Alas, the Quincy race was born out of what seemed like nothing. But they were not good for the balance, and as long as they slayed Hollows, the balance would be tipped something. A thing most unfavorable for anyone. And then there was another class of humans, though rarely seen, they too possessed some abilities very similar to the Quincy, but with a difference. Izanagi was learning, and while doing so, he was also teaching his fellow Shinigami.
